Hi everyone,

Sorry for posting this everywhere. I think it deserves its own thread considering the work we have put into it and the interest people have shown.

mcatjelly and I compiled data on final scores, preliminary percentiles, the AAMC full length, and company exams in the following google doc. Please check it out and give us feedback! Also, if your information is missing or incorrect, please edit it!

PLEASE DO NOT QUOTE! The embedded sheet will make this thread very slow if it is quoted.

Also, click this >link< to open in a new window (especially useful for mobile devices)!

PS: Can this be stickied?

PSS: For scores after July Here is a link to the form, and here is a link to the new spreadsheet. Thanks to mcatjelly!

TPR is next to useless ( in terms of tests), concepts and giving a solid basis were good.

My Tpr flm was 502, and 498 ( I was sleep deprived when i took this ( family emergency) and slept through half of the psych session. )

AAMC was more representative

C/P: 76%
CARS: 92%
Bio:81%
Psych:87%

Actual
C/p:130: 97th percentile ( I suspect C/P was either very difficult for many people or something, lots of biochem , it was lovely)
Cars: 128: 87% ( not sure what happened here, thought CARS was so easy and only marked three questions, but eh. probably missed some I had no idea I missed
Bio: 128: 87%
Psych: 129: 93% ( happy and surprised)
total:515, 93%

I was pretty thrilled and surprised.

I am not worthy to view your scores *stabs eyes* :dead:

Don't be discouraged - Kaplan has some of the hardest FLs out there. If you can consistently score above a 500 on one of those (after maybe two or three tests) you should be good for the MCAT. 497 isn't bad for your first FL Kaplan test.

To everyone else - I just took the test today and it was pretty hard! Did any of you get out of your test thinking you did poorly, only to discover you did better than you expected?

I'm on the same boat. I'm consistently scoring between 497-500 on Kaplan full lengths. My exam is September 3rd. Has your score improved since this?

My scores stayed kind of static until about the 5th or 6th full length; after that, it improved. A lot of it is just getting used to the format and time constraints of the test.

Hey guys,

I created a form so that @Xenith and I don't have to manually input everyone's scores. Please don't fill it out until you have allllll of the information you want to put on there (including your total score); your information isn't as useful without your MCAT score, anyway. :)

Here is a link to the form, and here is a link to the new spreadsheet!

Awesome!

I can't wait until I can contribute instead of constantly comparing myself to this thing!

@mcatjelly Oops. Didn't realize you had added my score already. I just added my scores again. Feel free to delete the one I just added. Otherwise nice work!

2 questions: a) what is the time gap between last FL taken and the real thing for majority? Hopefully it's within a 1-2 weeks. Otherwise if gap is 1 months - person could have improved his knowledge.
b) why is that some people's score always stay plateaued or even go down no matter how many FL's they take: e.g. 499, 500, 500, 501, 499, 500 etc. while some people show steady increase like 499, 500, 503, 504, 506, 508 etc. Is it because former ones hit their max and stay there or is it because they are doing something wrong like just keep taking FL's over and over without doing content review on their mistakes in between?

It could have to do with variability of concepts among each of the FLs. But the best practice is to spend as much time reviewing the content missed on those practice exams as you are taking them (7 hr). Sometimes it's easy to get trapped in the mindset of taking test after test to gauge your knowledge of concepts that you miss out on actually improving.

What do you mean valid?
No one here has a reason to lie to us, but I find it ironic that most people on sdn always seem to have pretty high percentile scores. I've been lied to about MCAT scores in person before. Just making an observation, not meaning to offend anyone. May just be that many people with lower scores don't frequent sdn, or post much.

^ word.

It is possible that for whatever reason 1 or 2 people might lie (trolling thinking they are cool or whatever) but the data overall is invaluable. If I knew Xenith and mcatjelly in person, I'd shake their hands! You guys have helped so many people.

Here's my contribution to the skew on SDN:

MCAT: 521 (131/130/129/131)

Kaplan:
Diagnostic: 503 (pre-study)
1: 506
2: 508
3: 508
4: 510
5: 511
6: 512

AAMC Practice:
Bio 1: 93%
Bio 2: 91%

Chem: 90%
CARS 1: 80%
Official Guide (basically a half-length; didn't take it timed): C/P: 86% CARS: 93% B/B: 86% P/S: 80%
AAMC FL: 88% (93/94/81/88)

Is there a way for me to enter these so that y'all don't need to?

Just wanted to say that I used this data to predict what my score will likely be and it was scary accurate for me o_O.
I predicted 515 based on the spreadsheet (just using an average) then got 516 on the actual MCAT.

That's awesome to hear! I am glad it helped you calm your nerves a bit.

I was definitely getting nervous when I took Kaplan FLs a week before the test and got seemingly abysmal scores. In the days leading up to the test, I thought a lot about whether I should void my MCAT - glad I eventually decided not to!

So, my turn to contribute:
All of them were taken about a week or two before the actual test.

Kaplan FL#1: 497 (40 percentile)
Chem/Phys - 123 (32 percentile; 54% correct)
CARS - 126 (70 percentile; 75% correct)
Bio/Biochem - 124 (44 percentile; 57% correct)
Psych/Soc - 124 (43 percentile; 61% correct)
* first any-length practice test ever

Kaplan FL#2 - 502 (57 percentile)
Chem/Phys - 125 (55 percentile; 59% correct)
CARS - 125 (58 percentile; 71% correct)
Bio/Biochem - 127 (77 percentile; 75% correct)
Psych/Soc - 125 (55 percentile; 56% correct)

AAMC FL
Chem/Phys - 80% correct
CARS - 89% correct
Bio/Biochem - 80% correct
Psych/Soc - 81% correct

Actual (8/6 test date)
Chem/Phys - 132 (100th percentile)
CARS - 129 (93rd percentile)
Bio/Biochem - 127 (77th percentile)
Psych/Soc - 128 (86th percentile)
Overall - 516 (95th percentile)

That's weird because I had very similar AAMC FL and actual scores on the 8/6

FL 83%/91%/83%/86%

And real scores were 132/129/130/126

Apparently low 80's is good enough for a perfect in c/p!

Huh, that is a pretty interesting observation!

So, after a year's worth of data, has anyone taken a look to see how useful any of these tests are at predicting actual performance? Like a legit statistical analysis? I would want to know and it would be a big help to those getting ready for 2016.

If anyone is interested, here's some scores from someone who's an actual mortal and not some MCAT god.

Kaplan FL 1: c/p: 122
cars: 126
bio: 126
psych:124
Total: 498

Kaplan FL 2: c/p:125
cars: 124
bio: 121
psych:125
Total: 495

Kaplan FL 3: (internet messed up while I was taking it. scores didn't save, but I remember my individual section scores added up to 499)

AAMC FL: 54%/79%/69%/68%

Actual: c/p: 124
cars:127
bio%:127
psych:126
Total: 504

Is this good enough for DO?

504 overall is good enough, but 124 in C/P might be no bueno. That translates to a 7 on the old. You miss the shots you dont take, so definitely apply.
