The question of score prediction for COMLEX III using COMQUEST averages has come up before with few responses (I did look through the recent COMLEX III score thread.) Given this question bank has been out for a few years now, there should be more data available. So......post up! What were your COMQUEST and COMLEX III scores?

Incidentally, I asked the folks at COMQUEST directly, and they were vague, but....

We're gathering a lot of data and will put it all out there once we are sure that it is statistically significant. The first time average is around 64%, so you should aim for at least that. Some subscribers who were in the low 80's have scored above 800 on the COMLEX (which we did not know was even possible!).

Thank you,

Ryan

I hope that is true. As I said above, my average is 82% with some repeats. Minus 7 points for sure and it brings me to 75%. I'll take whatever a 72% score is. I am nervous about this test. Everyone says it's easy but something tells me its harder than everyone says.

Just took it.....Some really crazy questions as we all always say. The test was pretty much even throughout but it seemed to be heavy on endocrine. We'll see I just hope I pass. After that, I am going to focus more on my IM boards instead of this medical school crap board exams.

I just took it today too....definitely a few WTF questions. Overall, I don't think that COMQUEST helped that much content-wise for today's version of step 3.

We'll see....I'll post up my COMQUEST percentage and COMLEX score when I get it.

what would be beneficial?

Being in a family practice residency instead of psychiatry

I certainly felt that comquest helped me brush up on a lot of the step II material that I haven't thought about or needed to use since then. And I think that probably did help on this exam, however, there were just so many questions that were random, unexpected things that I believe I could not have studied for....I would have had to get them through osmosis in an outpatient heavy internship.

A lot of questions with very scant information, supposed to make a diagnosis by recognizing one special feature of a disease. And a TON of questions where you can narrow it down to two answers very obviously, but impossible to feel confident about either one.

We'll see.......I scored 70% on comquest first time through. Kicked ass on step 1 and 2. Have a sinking feeling in my stomach after this one.

Promised I'd post when I got my score...

Scored 704 on the real thing. 70% on Comquest first time through in tutor mode. Repeated about a third of the questions I got wrong before I got burned out on it. Used Crush Step III, read most of it once, and wikipedia

I did not feel confident when I left the exam, felt like I was guessing on a lot of random stuff, or between two reasonable sounding choices on straightforward questions. I guess we tend to focus on the negative.

So, yeah.....that feels good.

Anyone else?

72% on COMQUEST...taking test again

I don't get what happened.

im steering clear of this thread.

got like 70-somethin in comquest and im doing combank, currently mid 70s. exam in a few weeks.

You should be fine brother. Here's my post from the other thread. I took my time and read the questions thoroughly and didn't have any issues with time. I always felt rushed and low on time on USMLE/Comlex 1&2. I also stayed reasonably caffeinated with no-doze and minimal water to help push through the afternoon burnout. Prolly bumped my Cr for a few hrs:eek: but I didn't want to be peeing like a race horse and I made sure to re-hydrate afterwards.

Definitely take the OMM seriously, it is my weakest subject so I had to brush up on the basics. There were plenty of OB/Gyn questions too.

Scores from the 13th of Feb released today.

I used COMBANK because I had a free month to use, otherwise I would have used comquest/UWorld like I did on steps 1/2. I mainly did questions for 4 weeks and used step up to step 2 since I was already familiar with it from step 2. I also used FA for Step 3 for OB and Peds. FWIW, I'm doing a TR internship so I had a pretty broad exposure to specialties including peds, OB and psych.

Overall Combank average 74% partly because I was scoring in the ~40% range on OMM as I didn't study any OMM until the week before.

Comlex step 3 score was in the high 600's.

Glad to have it over with, it's been nice being able to study anesthesiology books without feeling guilty about not studying for step 3.

edit: I also skimmed through that green savarese sp? book for the first time ever, about a week before the exam.

This is a great post and I was looking for this information when I was preparing too.

COMQUEST score: 71% (first time through)
COMLEX Level III: 742 (higher than Step 1 and 2)

I think it's natural to feel so-so when you walk out because I also focused only those WTF questions. I thought COMQUEST did a great job emphasizing on topics that showed up on test day.

So glad to be done with the COMLEX!!!

It's funny because the reviews I'm getting are so mixed. Two friends who took the exam said comquest was amazing and really helped them prepare. They didn't rock the exam but they got 540-600. The other two friends also did comquest and said it was a poor tool and didn't prepare them very well. They still passed but were in the low 400's. I don't know what to believe.

On the other hand I've heard nothing but great things about COMBANK for step 3. They said it wasn't great for step 2 but for step 3, the COMBANK questions are more clinically oriented and do a much better job preparing people for the exam than COMQUEST

I think combank is better, or so i keep hearing.

comquest felt more step 2 oriented after i took the comsae.

What I keep hearing from people who took the exam is that it is very clinical meaning the questions ask a lot of "next step" and treatment related questions which none of the QBanks really do a good job of answering. I'm doing both COMQUEST and COMBANK and COMBANK seems to involve more next step and clinical related questions.

qbanks and comsae suckewd fort he real exam.

nothin was good. i got ****ed hard but im too drunk tooo careee.

Get your drunk on, I'm sure you passed and did well. Sounds like everyone feels like they did horrible walking out of there

COMLEX 1 - 632
COMLEX 2 - 595

PGY-1 prelim med at large Midwest program.

Did half of Combank and all of Comquest in about a month. Still had notes I took from Comquest 2, read those a few times. Read cranial portion of Savarese.

COMLEX 3 - 842

Goodbye NBOME and COMLEX - you were sorry excuses for medical examination and need a major overhaul! Prepared about the same and felt the exact same walking out of 3 as I did 2 with ridiculously different results - great sign of a well written exam!

missed this thread.

yeah, i passed comfortably.

i could've stepped in there w/o studying and apparently managed to pass. hell, i felt like i was guessing on 95% of the questions. the exam is worthless.

forever done with NBOME and COMLEX.
