Hey guys,

For some weird reason I found these two passages very difficult. Should I expect the real MCAT to have passages like these two?

Those are two of the most infamous AAMC passages, both known as being amongst the most difficult ones youll find in any AAMC material. Yes, you could easily find a passage or two like that on the real thing, but they certainly wont constitute the majority of the test.

Most "difficult" CARS passages on the AAMC involve abstract and/or no-scientific thinking, which these 2 have in spades. This is why you want to make sure to practice plenty of tough CARS passages that reflect the new MCAT (no Nat science passages). NextStep has a couple great CARS books with lots of abstract passages on religion, ethics, morality, all of the topics the AAMC loves to use.

You can also check out the older EK 101 VR book, but be aware 1/3 of the passages no longer apply to the new exam.

Good luck!
