Hello friends:

I am reading MCAT biology and just found a contradiction between two prep books. Regarding to ions reabsorption within thick ascending limb of loop of Henle, Kaplan said Na+ is actively pumped out and Cl- passively follows. However, Princeton review write that Cl- is actively transported out followed by passive movement of Na+. Which one is the corrected concept?? Thank you very much for clarification!

Hmm...based on what I looked up from PubMed. It seems like TPR is correct that Think ascending tubule reabsorbe Cl- actively and Na passively. I guess Kaplan made a small mistake in 2005 edition Figure 10.3 on page 173.
