Hey guys,
I am currently writing a book chapter on surgical devices and it got me thinking...how do these come into existence? It may sound like a simple question at first, but obviously the creation and clinical implementation of a device requires collaboration from many different fields (physicians, engineers, business/administration).
Has anyone gone through the process of creating a surgical device, knows someone that has gone through the process, or maybe just has some knowledge on the process?

Here is just one example of a rather conceptually basic device that was created recently by several physicians. Pretty cool stuff to be able to revolutionize treatment with just one good idea (not saying that this device completely revolutionized wound care, but its still cool).
