hey guys i was confused on why this statement is false, it is from Destroyer gen. chem #203. It is a question asking which one is false and this is the answer but I cannot figure out why???

"The strontium cation is larger than the sulfur anion since negative ions gain electrons"

That statement is refering to the atomic radius of the atoms. When Sr lose 2 electrons (its ionic form) it has 2 protons more than electrons so it's going to hold on to the remaining electrons a lot tighter, thus making its radius smaller. S on the other hand has gained electrons and its radius has gotten larger. Overall, know that anions make larger radius than cations.
