Deferement Question

If you get a deferment to do a residency on the outside...does the military still pay for your moving expenses to that location or do you have to front the bill?

No. If you're deferred (not full time out service) after residency you get no financial assistance from the military. You also aren't accruing obligation either. You will have moving expenses covered when you finish training and move to your first duty station.
 
Deferment is the worst deal ever. What you are looking for is "Full-time outservice".
