Hi all.
I just graduated from Gulf Medical University Ajman, United Arab Emirates last November(DMD program) . And i was planning to go to US as an international Dentist. I got my green card 2 years ago and all my family already moved there and i can no longer stay here and will be going to US soon.

I Was preparing for My NBDE exam and geting info on requirements to join international dentist programs that i found out that my universuty should be in the list of recognized unis by FDI. And unfortunately my university is not. (2014 FDI world Federation dental school list)

Please can you help me and tell me if theres any way around this? Does this mean that i studied DMD for 5years for nothing?
Is this a general rule for all schools in US that university should be recognized by FDI or are there any that can accept me (i was checking for california when i found out).

Also what if I work here a year or 2 or get specialized first and tgen go to US? Is there any other procedures for specialist dentist or even they have to go through Internatinal Dentist programs??

I really appreciate all your help
thank you
paris

I have a similar issue, did you find a solution to the problem?

You may try to contact ADA first and ask if there is a solution
There’s no point to specialize, because your basic dental school studies are not recognized
Maybe it is possible to ask FDI why they didn’t recognize your school and if they plan to in the future.
Try to explore a possibility of transferring to a recognized school for another year to get their diploma
All the best
