Yup. At least I am worth the 40 or so cents it cost to mail the letter.

Certainly not filled and not invited (i.e. dormant):
Harvard, MA.
UT Houston, TX.
Uni of Chicago, IL.

So, if you still haven't got an invite, there are about 35 programs that may.. sooner or later. And remember, about 20-30 top candidates are already out of the race. Relax!

Is Memorial Loan Kettering really filled?

I heard it from a very reliable source, but not from the program itself, so there is a chance they still have one slot open. I am not in play there. If you check with the program, you can move it back to "invites" category or PM me to do so anonymously. Any other news anybody wanna share? Just PM me.

I am pretty sure UCSF filled today. They interviewed all their candidates last week.

**Added U Penn.
***Also, to answer previous question, Jefferson is separate from Ackerman regarding interviews. Dr Elston will be spending half his time at Jefferson and half his time at Ackerman. The Ackerman slot, however, is actually program through SUNY Downstate with Dr Heilman.

Looks like things are a.moving a bit faster! U penn mmm..

It would be great if those who know about programs that have already filled with internal candidates would let us know. Nobody gains from keeping that secret if you know what I mean. Just send me a message and I will share it here.

Knowing how many programs are already out of reach is an important information when we have to respond to position offers.

Good luck to those interviewing at Penn! I interviewed there last year. They have what seems to be an awesome program (didn't wait to see if I was offered a spot. Probably wouldn't have been offered anyway. :p). Elenitsas seems like she would be a great mentor as well.

Thanks Miss155 and dp_vector. I have added your info to the list. I also got word about UCLA filling up from a resident there.

I am kinda okay with small programs like UT mem or Loyola filling up with internal candiates, because they are probably afraid that they wouldn't get what they already got if they waited too long. But for the bigger and more reputable programs like UCLA/Baylor/UMich etc to do this is just lazy, brings the field down, and belongs into hall of shame. What do you guys think? Which programs filled with internal candidates above, should get a badge of Hall of Shame?

They all should get a bade of Hall of Shame for not having a match process. They program directors need to come to agreement and sort this out at ASDP. It is a horrible process for all.

Probably. But it's a double-edged sword. What if they did send out invites to external candidates, even interviewed a few, but still filled with an internal candidate, even if the external candidates were marginally "more qualified"? Isn't that wasting everyone's time, and potentially money?

You can make a similar case for residency interviews. Why have Match at all? It is not only about mere counting of qualifications and interest of the programs in given candidates, it is about giving right candidate a right place and hopefully avoid inbred stagnation in the process.

Top Secret tip: It may be a good idea to write to programs who have already sent out interview invites, but not to you. As days pass, some of the invited ones withdraw, and so they might be looking for slots to fill for their interview day, and you never know they may end up liking you..the filler!
