Have a patient coming in with the diagnosis of diabetic radiculoplexopathy/amyotrophy and severe hip and thigh pain. Other than the usual drugs for neuropathic pain(membrane stabilizers, etc.) any of you have success with other drugs, interventions, etc? I suspect that the patient will come in already having tried the usual drugs; perhaps at inadequate doses, and be looking for my expert "magic".

I've never had long-term success with procedures because these are essentially nerve infarcts at the vasoneuvorum level.
This pain can be BAD and require admission for pain control. It abates with time, but it can recur on the opposite side
or even in thorax.

review the EMG, and have if you cant read it, have someone who knows what they are talking about it for a good interpretation. this is one of the rare cases where electrodiagnosis is actually important

Good Blood glucose control is-supposed to help. TENS unit?
