Think they just got this info off of the R3 system Match Reports (by Specialty/Region). Only SOAP people can see which programs. I actually think the SOAP people are specifically not supposed to mention which programs didn't match publicly (i.e. on message boards). Maybe after Friday?

Wonder which West Coast program didn't? Maybe New Mexico?

Yeah, I'm wondering too. However, if you look at the number PGY-1 spots per each region in the NRMP report and then look at the number of spots listed by program on NRMP website, the numbers don't add up.

Hard to know. Sometimes programs go unmatch on purpose because the spots are not really available in the first place (withdrew from match but still listed). Some real unmatched programs don't participate in SOAP because they like to take their time to pick their candidates in the next few months rather than going through the SOAP

Yeah, it would help if I were cleared, but I am unsure if it is a match violation if I discuss the one document NRMP made available to people who matched regarding match statistics

Reminder to M4's to please update the derm google doc with your news to help future dermies - thanks :)

4 PGY2 spots and 2 PGY1 spots.....is this unheard of? Seems like a lot for dermatology. Maybe programs just interviewed too few people or decided not to fill their spots but is this on par with previous years or is this a fluke of year. I was anticipating few to no SOAP positions because of the big increase in derm applicants this year.

Nah it's pretty par for the course. In previous years, however, it has not always been a matter of a program just failing to rank enough applicants out of hubris. Some spots end up being military, some are due to a program withdrawing from the match to take outside applicants ("all-out"), etc.

yes- three of the four PGY2's are "repeat offenders" I have heard... aka often go unfilled.

getting anxious about Friday!

Any stats about the number that didn't match? Everyone from my school that applied did and that has never happened before.

Now that SOAP is over, can someone reveal what the 6 programs are and if they were filled through SOAP?

What programs don't participate in the match and therefore fill spots all outside the main match?

Well, none of the "unfilled" derm spots this year were actually available through SOAP, so...nobody had any luck through that avenue. They were all military spots, or other similar "special" positions that I'm sure they had someone specific in mind for.

Actually, there was 1 resident-only spot filled through SOAP at Kansas. None of the other 5 programs participated in SOAP and yes, most were military or research year positions that likely aren't going to be filled.
