First semester freshman year I have chem lecture and chem lab. Second semester I just have chem lecture. Third semester I have chem lab. It turns out to be 1 year of each but not exactly at the same timing. Is this ok?

I'm in ochem and have yet to take chem 1 lab, very dumb I know but It was work related problem, so to answer you question no they don't need to be concurrent

No, they don't have to be taken at the same time. You can take Chemistry Lecture and Chemistry Laboratory two different semesters. It doesn't matter, as long as you have both the lecture and lab components done.
