If any of you could help, that would be great

30+
Gpa: between 3.2 and 3.4
very steep upward trend-

I am applying next cycle, so my questions are
1) Where do you think I should apply?
2) What do you think are my chances of getting into those schools?
3) Are there any DO schools that care more about the MCAT then GPA, or at least weigh them equally?
4) Are there any DO schools that would like to see/care about research experience?
5) Any suggestions for how to improve my application?

Thank you in advance :)

Why not apply now? select 10-15 schools of your liking, get a DO letter, and you should be fine. If you don't have the letter you can work on getting one while your app is being verified (for those schools requiring it).

i think it's a good idea to wait.

i think you need to retake some classes, your current GPA can and will get you auto-screened out at some schools.

You don't have to retake courses at the same school. So if you can find courses at another school that qualify as replacement courses, you could do it that way.

You could potentially do online classes as well if that is an option instead of evening classes.

A 3.2 will be much less likely to be auto-screened out.

Have you already retaken courses at your school and still have a 3.1/3.0? Does your school limit the number of retakes per course or limit the number of total retakes of any courses? You could always appeal to the dean of the college and see if an exception could be made. If they even entertain the idea, you're going to need a convincing story most likely.

Use this list compiled by the resourceful user3 and aim for those with numbers close to your own. Retake any F/D/C science coursework. Personally, with the strong upward trend, and some DO LORs , you'll be very competitive. Research is not an important criteria for DO schools. Your GPA will be escpeically appreciated at the Touros, Western, CCOM and AZCOM.

bettering your GPA will never look bad.

you mention work, how many hours per week are you working right now? sometimes you may have to look at what is more important to you long term. it might be wise to cut back on the hours, cut back on expenses where you can, and possibly get a small increase in your loans.

Concur. OP, look up AACOMAS's grade replacement policy. Does wonders for the old GPA.

No. We want to see evidence that you can handle medical schools, even if sometimes it's in small doses of heavy stuff.

Would it make a difference if I retook course after submitting the primary application? Like I redid a class over the summer?
