The basis is that the Doctor is an alien who travels around in time and space with various companions. He is able to regenerate (change into a completely new person) at times, which is extremely convenient for when they have to change actors. Er, since it's coming up on its 50th anniversary, I will clarify: cuit and I know almost nothing about classic Doctor Who. This game is based on the newer seasons that started airing in 2005, with the Ninth, Tenth, or Eleventh Doctors.

Not necessarily, if you're brave enough to just jump in. You might want to look up Mafia or Werewolf rules; here in pre-vet we've sort of formed our own conventions but the basics are the same. In WW there are two sides who each want to win: Villagers and Wolves. There are more villagers, but the wolves have the advantage of knowing who the other wolves are. Each night, the wolves kill a villager, and each day the villagers try to lynch a wolf. Villagers win if they kill all the wolves, and wolves win if they kill enough villagers.

In most of the games, there are items and certain villagers also have special abilities that they can use at night. Gameplay is done in the game thread and through PMs. The people that are in your group aren't necessarily people that you can trust; all a group means is that you can PM them to strategize.
