Hi all I am currently a RN almost done with my Bachelors of science in nursing (I acquired an Associates of Applied Sciences in Nursing previously). By the time of my hopeful interview for DO school, I would have about 1 - 1.5 years of RN experience, whether it be volunteering in the Community as a Community Health Nurse or in a Doctor's office.
I know that DO schools do not prefer any major, however I am a little concerned the admissions people would ask "Why DO?" Honestly, my experience of being a RN student and a new RN grad motivated me to want to become a Physician. Especially a Physician that focuses on preventative medicine.
As for my grades, I would have a 3.4 overall, 3.8 science, still didn't take the mcat but I hope to have above a 28, all by the time I would have a DO interview.
Do you think being an RN would hinder me? If anything, I would that would put me at an advance, as I had clinical experience during RN school, and while working as an RN.
Please let me know,
Thanks.
