The "Special Six Survivors", or the "Stupendous six" or the "Sly Six" or whatever they were nicknaming themselves at this particular moment all were exhausted, but still did not come easily to them. They knew they had won, but yet had a haunting feeling that maybe, just maybe, things weren't as straight forward as they thought. They had been over-confident before, they would not be tonight. They would maintain constant vigilance, and prevent any attack (which they knew wasn't coming).

Sometimes, even when you want to stay up just a little bit more, study another page, learn another disease, keep watch another minute, sometimes, your body just gives out and you fall asleep. So too for the members of the pack. One by one they fell asleep. All but 2. One was a sniffer, and she wanted to make hopefully a last wolf sniff on this night. But was she really sniffing for wolf? Can we trust anyone anymore? And then there was another who got up as well. And then on this night of an almost full moon, a cloud briefly passed in front of the moon, and then it happened…..

Yes, poor Twelve Tigers, the healer extraordinaire, was attacked while still injured from a hawk attack the previous night, that had occurred while she was still overwrought from her healing of Heylodeb. The only question was whether she had made a mistake or not. How wily were these wolves? She would have to see from heaven because Twelvetigers, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi of the Herding Group, the vet's dog, the 2 time resuscitator of dead dogs, was now dead as well.
There is one more mystery to deal with tonight. That is the strange behavior of WTF before she was mauled. She was virtually dancing over the fact that she was to be killed. She was howling, she was acting quite strange. This was not behavior we had seen in any other wolf (or even dog) before. It was quite disturbing to some of the more sensitive dogs in the pack.

Dogs are curious creatures (and they are not sure why cats get all the credit for curiosity). They will not let a mystery linger too more. They are SURE to investigate the cause of this curious behavior. Well, I can tell you a secret. WTF's body died, but there is life yet in her. In fact, her soul has transmigrated…. Souls can't go very far though, and no one was around WTF when she died, so she took refuge in the only "living" thing she could find, and that was the Lyssavirus rabies that had infected her body and caused the strange behavior we witnessed.

WTF is ready to infect more dogs if she is not stopped. She will make them rabid, but worse could control their powers, as this virus has a soul. Instead of choosing death, WTF chose to be a scourge, a horrible, horrible, disease of mammals. That is just the kind of player she is.

So now my canidae friends… You have a choice. You can choose to maul a canid with 3 votes, or you can choose to burn the body of WTF to rid yourselves of this disease.

Smartly the pack decides to burn WTF's disease ridden body. Lucky they did, if they hadn't there was no stopping the rabies epidemic that would have wiped out the pack leaving no sign anyone had ever been in the sanctuary.

The issue of Heylodeb's accusation still needs to be cleared up tomorrow. For now....

And on the 13th day, the unluckiest day, Katie, Cuitl, Heylo, and Sheepie gathered around. There was no more hatred in their eyes, no more blood lust… their eyes were almost dead already. Yet there had been another death, and that meant that the now ugly job of mauling one of them was still upon them. Heylodeb remade her accusation against Sheepdogpsu. Of course sheepie denid. Cuitl and Katie had trusted Heylodeb, and they weren’t going to stop now.



So it was that on this 13th day, Sheepdogpsu, the Irish Wolfhound, was set to be mauled. People looked at his breed and commented, “why of course he is a wolf, he is a WOLF hound. How could nobody notice that?” “Oh yeah, “ they thought, but really couldn’t care that much anymore. Sheepie pleaded with them not to do this horrible act, they would regret, they weren’t cold blooded killers like WTF was. “You are the wolves, I am the innocent, how can no one see that. All the ghosts watching think they are about to see justice, but what they really are going to see is an arghhhhhhh,” Tired of that Katie8 stepped forward and finished off Sheepdogpsu, the Irish Wolfhound, the last member of the hound group, and also Canis Simensis, the Ethiopian Wolf, the 6th wolf of the game. There was a certain admiration of Sheepdog, managing to stay alive all this time, to avoid suspicion, to lay low while cunningly gaining info. That was not easy to do. Still Sheepdogpsu was dead, no resurrection occurring this time.



There were just 3 left. Katie, Heylodeb, and Cuitlamiztli. They looked in each others eyes, and they wondered still, how many wolves left. Could there be a 7th. And then the Fedex truck drove up with a package. “What is this?” asks Cuitl. Apparently Devyn, the vet’s puppy who grew up to be a vet’s dog, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier who was not even given a proper sendoff when he died, turns out to be our hero. Not by killing, but by saving once again. The package in the Fedex truck was not a weapon, but 3 canis lupus familiairis genetic tests ordered from the PennGen laboratories. All they had to do was take a little cheek sample of their DNA, rush it to the lab, and a few hours later, due to their amazing connections in the veterinary community, the results were returned. Dog, Dog, and Dog.


I’m sure you would all like to hear about the great celebration that took place over their victory. Unfortunately, there was none. There was no satisfaction in a peaceful pack decimated from 24 members down to 1.. no satisfaction in attacks from other animals, in dealing with ghosts with PMS, and with deadly disease threatening their existence. No, these 3 were survivors, but they were exhausted mentally, physically, and emotionally. They were happy to be alive, but all they wanted to do was to sleep in the sun, enjoy the forest , and once again have the life they had lived in the past. It was not too much to ask.



And so comes to an end the game of Werewolf in the Dog Sanctuary. I want to thank all the players whether you survived 1 day or 13, whether dog, or wolf, or some other creature. And a thanks to all of you commented from the outside. Without you it would not have been as much fun.

Everyone was really great about deadlines and posting and I really appreciate it. I will post some “extra features” so you can learn more how the game evolved.

Guard Dogs

You have been assigned the role of Guard Dog in the pack.
If any dog in your group is attacked you can fight off the attacker EXCEPT:
1 - After an attack it will take you 2 days to recuperate. You may not speak on the thread or pm for the first day.
The second day you cannot protect from an attack.
The third day you can guard again.

2 - You may decline one time during the game to protect your group. Use it carefully, after that you have to protect, even if you don't wan't to.

3 - After the second time you have protected an attack, your identity as a Guard Dog will be revealed.

You are a Killer Dog.

You have the ability for a single time to kill a dog or wolf in the game. Once you have killed you cannot kill again.

In addition, you can wound, and therefore silence, any dog or wolf for 1 day. This can only be done one time.

EXCEPTION:
A vet's dog can rejuvenate you, at the cost of revealing their identity. If you can convince a vet's dog to -do this, they have to pm me and you can regain 1 kill and/or 1 wound.



You are a hybrid dog.

You can blend in with the dogs or with the wolves.

The third night you will have to choose your sides (the first 2 nights you are independent).

If you become a wolf, you will work with the wolves. As a wolf, if you are "sniffed", you will only be recognized as a wolf 50% of the time.

If you become a pack member, you can escape a wolf attack the first time due to your wolfishness. BUT if you are "sniffed" your role will be revealed as "hybrid" 50% of the time (the other 50% you will be a plain dog). No one but you will know what it means to be a hybrid (veteran players can guess though).

If you do not PM me on the 3rd night, you will default to being a pack member.

You are a stealth dog. Due to your sneakiness you can go out at night and spy. But it is a stressful job and even dogs need a break.

You can decide to:
1) Find out which wolf is attacking that particular night (if they are attacking). You can only do this once as it is particularly risky and your "role" will be revealed although no one will know you can't do it again.

2) Prevent an attack from occurring. You can do this twice, but you must "rest" for 2 days after doing this. That means you cannot talk on the thread or via PM. Your role is maintained.

You are the vet's dog.
Since you grew up with a great vet (a Pennwe of course

), you have a limited ability to heal.

2 times you can revive a fellow player after an attack.

The first time you do this, you must rest for 2 days...no PMs, no posting.

The second time you do this, your role will be revealed to everyone and you must rest for one day.

If you are not killed there is one player who can restore your ability to heal one more time. You do not know who that player is.

After this 3rd healing you do not need to rest.

Procedurally after an attack, I will PM you with who has been attacked in the MIDNIGHT time slot. You will have until 8am EST to tell me if you want to save them or not. If I do not hear from you they will die. PLEASE try to tell me either if you want to save them or not. The wrap up will mostly depend on you each day. If I am still awake I can give an early recap, otherwise everyone must wait until the morning.

Since you are in OK, I would like you to PM to agree whether we can say that after 5am EST, if I don't hear from you, then you are not saving? You do not have agree to this, but I don't see you staying up that late to decide. Let me know either way... You can pick a different time based on what you think works best.

In the meantime,

You can try to save an attack. You will only be effective 50% of the time, and the party being attacked may be injured in some unpredictable manner.

You can only do this once successfully once. If you are unsuccessful the first time, you may try again the next day.

You will need 2 days to recover from a successful attempt during which you may not send PMs or post on the thread.

You must PM me on the night you want to attempt this before 11:30pm.

Currently, you have the ability to heal someone who has been injured. You must figure out who is injured (they cannot respond on the thread or the PM).

You can only attempt this on even numbered days. If you attempt to heal a person who is not injured, you will be injured for a day during which you cannot PM or respond in the thread.

If you want to attempt to heal someone, you can PM during day or night, and they would be healed from that point forward.

You are a Killer puppy. One day you may grow up to be a killer dog, if the current killer dog is killed itself. If that happens, I will send you details of your new role.

For now, you can wound another dog or wolf one time. This means that they cannot send PMs or post on the thread for one day.
The vet’s puppy can rejuvenate you, so that you can wound one more time. You must find the vet’s puppy and explain their ability to them and get them to send me a PM. If the vet’s puppy does this, they will be wounded for 2 days.

You are a sniffer puppy. One day you may grow up to be a sniffer dog, if the current sniffer dog is killed itself. If that happens, I will send you details of your new role.

For now, you can sniff out the role of any dog occasionally. There is roughly a 50% chance that you can sniff on any given evening. If you can sniff that night, you will be told of most dogs roles, although some will be too advanced for you to sniff. If you sniff out a wolf, you will be very scared, and cannot PM or post on the thread for one day. Then you will regain your courage and can post about your finding. The animal you sniff will know they have been sniffed but not know who did it.

After the third night, if you find the stud, you can mate and bring back one player and their role.

After mating you will be very tired, and will have to rest for 2 days while you gestate. While you rest you cannot PM or post on the thread. On the 3rd day your player will re-enter the game. If you are killed the 1st day, your puppy dies. If you are killed the 2nd day, your puppy survives to play on the 3rd day.

If you are still alive on day 13, you can mate again. There is no gestation this time, but your role will be announced to everyone. Your puppy will not be born for 1 day. Again you can pick any player to bring back.


You are a stud puppy.

After the third day, you become a stud dog. If you can find the bitch, you can mate with her. She will bring forth a puppy that is the reincarnation of one of the players.

When you have found the bitch, you can PM me her name, (at NIGHT) and I will ask her if she wants to mate with you. I will not tell you if you are correct in who the bitch is. Only if she wants to mate or not.

You have no control over when mating occurs, or who the puppy is. You are a man after all.

You can also mate after day 13.

Sexual reproduction is a tiring activity. You will need a day to rest after copulating. During that day you may not send PMs or post on the thread.

You are the Snake. This is a secret role. The regular players in the game are not aware of your role. You are allied with the, other non-canidae species in the forest. If your numbers are greater than the winning side (wolves or pack), you make a surprise victory. Currently there are 3 other animals in your group, the hawk (pet pony), and the mountain lion (trematode) and the honey badger (corporate fat cat).

As a creature of the forest you have to eat to survive, and as a carnivore, you must attack prey to eat. The dogs and wolves will be your prey. You must each select a different player to attack each night. No player can be attacked a second time until all remaining players are attacked.

When you attack a player the following may occur:
1) The player is a protected dog. You cannot feed that night.
2) The player is a “protecting dog”. You feed.
3) The player is an unprotected dog. You feed
4) The player is a wolf. You are injured and lose nutrition.


When you attack a player, regardless of the outcome, you will learn his role. This may aid you in determining who to attack later in the game, and to help the sides destroy each other.
You can choose not to feed on a night, but that will cause you to lose nutrition.


In order to feed on any given night you MUST have posted in the thread during the day. Your posts should be designed to ridicule the players – or encourage if you must – and perhaps provide conflicting information.
Remember they don’t think you are part of the game so your comments must be surrounded by******.
Finally, it is possible that the players will learn your roles and try to kill you. Be careful what you say. You should never admit you are playing the game while any creature of the forest is still alive.

Feeding is a part of life. If your nutrition level gets too low, you will die. You do not know what that level is… I will track it. Just like real life, who knows how much someone needs to live.

So remember….Post in the thread… send me a PM who to attack at night…. PM each other to plan strategy.

&&You have been elected Alpha Dog. Your role is advisory in nature. You should give advice on mauling and using roles to your pack. As an alpha dog you must give up your role as Guard dog. You may appoint one Beta-dog to be your guard dog. They will be informed of this choice. A guard dog will fight off an attack on you, but will be silenced for a day, and unable to help you during that day. You may change your guard dog at any time (except when one is silenced for you). Both the old and the new guard dog will be informed of this change.

If you are attacked by your guard dog, you have no protection.

You have the ability to maul one beta dog one time during the game.

If there are any unusual events during the game, you can launch one investigation to find out what is happening.

Changes to guard dogs, mauling, investigating etc. must be sent via PM at night.

The betas will know nothing of your role or abilities, except if they have been chosen as guard dog they will know that.

Remember to help guide the discussion. Lack of participation will lead to you being demoted.

Finally, on your death (if it comes to that), you have 2 options:
1 – You can promote a Beta to Alpha dog or…
2 – You can pass the guard dog role to any player in the game or…
3 – You can choose mystery door number 3. This is only available to you. You will not know if this is something you want to do or not. Sometimes death is better.

You are a beta-dog. Whatever role you have has been maintained. Your new major role is to pass information amongst each other and the alpha back to your group and vice versa. This is a crucial role.

You have 2 new abilities.
1) You are the balance against the Alpha’s power. If you decide the Alpha is not “on your side”, and there are 3 votes among your fellow Beta’s to challenge her, you can maul the Alpha. If there is a majority (but not 3 votes) you can force the Alpha to step down. You will need 3 votes (including the deposed alpha) to elect a new alpha, otherwise the position remains unfilled.
2) You have the ability on your death to do one of the following:
a) select a player from a group that has no leadership represented to take your place OR….
b) Pass your role on to any player in your group.

Remember that you will have more information that other players and you should actively help guide the conversation and voting. If the moderator feels you are not participating enough, you can be kicked out of your role.


Although you have died as a wolf you get to live on as LyssaVirus Rabies. You will infect one player randomly each night. Once you have infected them, you can control their powers the next night. During the day, they will have to speak incoherently. The group will be informed of the diagnosis. If they maul you, you will finally be dead.

Enjoy "life" as a virus. You have to post as a ghost/troll as viruses don't speak.
