This is in the orgo study guide

1. An ester is formed by the reaction of an alcohol and an
- it says amide but I thought it was acid?

2. CH3CH2OH+CH3COOH --H+->
- it says CH3-CH2-O-CH2-CH3 but I thought it was CH3-COOCH2CH3?

3. Which of the following reactions would yield an ester?
- it says R-CHO + HO-CH2-R but I thought it was R-COOH + HO-R?

These are all in the same subsection as well. If I'm wrong please explain. Thank you

A carboxylic acid + alcohol forms an ester so I think you're right on all three
