Does the Anesthesiology review course have a weight towards either the oral or written boards?

By review course I believe you are referring to the 5 day didactic review course. Didactic review courses concentrate on reviewing lots of relevant information which would tend to lend it more towards preparing for a written exam. It could also be valuable in preparing for an oral exam because it would refresh your knowledge base and enable you to better answer oral questions.

You are correct in that The Osler Institute does not produce an Internal Medicine Review Course.

CD sets contain MP3 formatted recordings of what we call our "Best of Series" in each course. Each course set would also include an additional CD that would have PDF version on the notes that accompany the recordings and is referred to as the Syllabus. This can also be purchased as a printed document. These are the written materials that accompany the recordings. Samples are available on our web site http://www.osler.org/main/index.html .

The CD sets were assembled this way to enable people to just listen to the recordings in their car stereo player is it accepts MP3 formatted CDs. You could also load the syllabus onto your computer and scroll through the appropriate set of notes as you listen to the lecture as it plays in your computers CD player.

so you know the placement rates for students who use your products..

The question I am used to answering is what is your pass rates since our participants are preparing to take a certification exam in a specific medical specialty. Passing the exam(s) leads to becoming Board Certified and not placement into a program.

Our pass rates are higher than the general population of test takers based on our surveys. One needs to realize that not everyone answers our survey and that our sample is probably biased towards people that would pass the test anyways. However, the differential between our participants pass rates and the general populations pass rates is great enough to show that there is benefit to taking our courses.

How long has the osler institute been making these review materials?

The Osler Institute began in August, 1982 doing the Pathology Board Review Course. It started expanding into other specialties in 1986. So we have approximately twenty-nine years of experience in producing Board Review courses.

I've heard some lectures from a set of audio cds from one of your courses several years ago. However, I don't see a set of cds for sale for orthopedic boards on your site. Do you plan to sell a similar set of orthopaedic audio lectures in the future? Thanks.

I was surprised to see that you are a non-profit organization. Having received numerous mailing for your board review courses and materials I have always been struck by how expensive they are. Do you offer any type of financial aid or discounts based upon financial hardship?

with regards to pathology, will you all include actual slide images with the notes? also, is there any consideration to adding virtual microscopic slides to the education materials.
