Eligibility Extension to the new format

I am currently registered for the old format, but not enough time to study during residency. Want to postpone...... am i allowed to extend my eligibility to the new format?

Actually I had the same doubt and called the FSMB. They said that if you do not take it by Sept 30th, then your registration fee is considered forfeited and you will have to pay the new fee in its entirety (of I think $1000) to take the exam
