Hi all,

I see that many schools require a year of English for admission requirements. My question specifically is would a year of writing classes count towards that (writing 1 and technical writing) and/or AP high school credit? Cuz ain't nobody got time for adding in random English classes (especially as an engineer...).

I should certainly think that would count. Writing does qualify as English haha. From the AACPMAS website, the following counts as English:

English: **
  • Composition
  • Debate
  • Dramatics
  • English
  • Journalism
  • Literature
  • Medical Terminology
  • Mythology
  • Oral Communication
  • Poetry
  • Public Speaking
  • Reading Skills
  • Rhetoric
  • Speech
  • Theater
  • Writing Skills

Haha ok thank you for the super helpful info! The technical writing class was technically (see what I did there) an engineering class, but I assume it would fall under writing skills.
