2 strands go to 1 -> entropy decreases.

Temp drops (in the q-stem), so enthalpy decreases.

If the question were changed so that a covalent bond formed between 2 molecules instead of h-bonds forming, energy would be released and the enthalpy change *could* possibly be positive, correct?

Enthalpy has little to do with temperature. In fact, you can assume that they are independent of each other. The decreases in enthalpy was due to heat released by the formation of H-bonds or any bond.

H0 = 0. Hf = -?? --> negative change in enthalpy
