Hi everybody!
My students and I are conducting a small medical linguistic research on how physical exam is performed in different parts of the world. In particular, we are now analyzing which words doctors use to evaluate the tactile fremitus during the chest physical examination.
For example, English-speaker doctors ask their patients to repeat the words “Boy oh boy” or “Ninety-nine” while they are placing their hands on patient chest to evaluate vibrations produced by airflow.
I would be extremely grateful if you would be so kind as to reply message writing us which words are used in your language (and their meaning) to evaluate the tactile fremitus during the chest physical examination or, as an alternative, to indicate me someone I could ask.
