what are some rules for extraction and separation?

if you want to extract an acid, you use a weak basic solvent, and if you want to extract a base, you use a weak acid solvent.

that's what i know for extraction, correct me if i'm wrong.

theres some cool videos on youtube...i bet if you type in "organic chemistry"
+ "lab" + "extraction" you'll see some

u definitely wanna know the difference between all the orgo lab techniques (like extraction, filtration, distillation, recrystillization just to name few) and which one is used when. You will definitely see those on the exam.

yea the orgo lab techniques are becoming quite popular on tests now ;) But again just know the basics, nothing too fancy...

Also make sure you know this one:

If you want to extract phenol you use strong bases and to extract amine you use strong acids
