Will updating the fall grades be the deciding factor for applicants still waiting on acceptances/interviews ?

I think being able to figure this out for yourself should be a deciding factor.

I'm freaking out. My first semester of college and I'm about to finish up with a 3.0-3.2 gpa. Next semester i'm about to study my ass off

not a deciding factor, but those grades will be used as factors too.. if you haven't received an acceptance/interview yet, then i would stay away from anything below a B (not saying that if you get a C, you're done... but it would help you not to have any)

Could be a deciding factor if you have a low GPA because of bad early semesters. They might want to be able to see you can sustain multiple semesters with high GPA. So if you have an upward trending GPA it might be beneficial if you made a 4.0 or something.
