Hi,

I want to ask a question on behalf of my friend. My friend is about to complete his fellowship in cardiology from Pakistan. He has taken Step1, 2 and 3 already. He wants to know if there is any way of getting in to any of the cardiology subspeciality training programs in the US like Interventional, Nuclear cardiology, Electrophysiology/ critical care cardiology.

Do ACGME accredited programs take fellows for sub-speciality training who have completed their residency and fellowship training from outside US. Is there any way to get in to such training programs. What else does he need to do to make him eligible for such programs?

Thanks and any input will be highly appreciated.

I don't have personal experience with this, but I was under the impression that foreign physicians have to repeat residency and fellowship in the US, unless they are coming from Canada.

Maybe someone else can confirm.
