Hi, I am just wondering about the Jefferson timelines. During interview day, many people said the adcom meets once a week to discuss the previous weeks candidates. For those of you who interviewed recently or even last week, are you anticipating any news tomorrow or do you think it is too soon? For those of you who were accepted in a week's time, were you early decision or regular? Also, for those of you who have been accepted with a week turnaround, or those of you who may know someone, do you have off-the-charts stats? I know, tons of questions...Anything would be greatly appreciated.:D

Why doesn't anybody want to talk to me about Jefferson? Ha:(rumph!

I interviewed last week and am *crossing my fingers* for a call tomorrow. It would be my first acceptance and I really liked Jeff so hopefully...? I've heard that a week or two is pretty normal for them. Some people's interviewers told them when they'd hear but mine didn't.

Oh goodie! I am so glad someone responded! I loved Jeff too and that's nice to know you heard the same thing. It would be my first acceptance as well. Here's hoping....

Also, I looked at your mdapps and I saw that you got an interview at Mayo. I was recently there (non-medical school related stuff) and I have to tell you that it is the most efficient, well-run, amazing health care facility I have ever seen. The escorts, the cleanliness, WOW. I just felt a sense of peace there and that if a person were to get ill they would find great comfort in getting treated at a place like Mayo. Congratulations and I wish you the very best of luck tomorrow and in all your med school endeavors. (Hope I spelled that word right, I have always had trouble with that one.)

I'm a big Jeff fan and am hoping for some good news soon too. I interviewed on 10/24 and on the acceptance thread I saw at least two people who interviewed that same day and got an acceptance phone call a week later (10/31)....both had MCATs in the 37ish range I think, so that gives you some idea of what we're up against I guess? It seems like 1, 2, and even 3 weeks is completely normal to hear about an acceptance, which means that tomorrow I'm going to be extremely anxious about hearing from them, and if for some awful reason I hear nothing, I'll be anxious for another week until the next wednesday.

luvya zen, but you waited 12 minutes!!! we have lives (not).

Well, I wish you the best of luck and even though I will tell you to try and not be anxious and to go on about your life as usual, I know that I won't help because I will probably be biting my nails as well. If this is purely a numbers game then I am totally screwed. I don't have a 37. At all.

Nah I don't think it's a purely numbers game at all of course. And I'm pretty sure those two people I saw that got accepted had great EC's on their MDApps. Plus, Jefferson makes it a point to let you know at the interview day that they're not just about the numbers. Good luck to you too!

It isn't necessarily one week. It can be between 1-4 weeks, depending on when your interviewer is able to attend the admissions committee weekly meeting. If your interviewer cannot make it this week, he can try to make it next week, where your file will be voted on.

A few years ago, when I applied, 2 weeks was the average. 1 week was fast, 4 weeks was unexpectedly long.

I hate to even ask for fear of damning myself, but when should one expect to hear about any unfortunate waitlisting?

Oh thank you very much for the info. One more question: so does that mean your interviewer HAS to be present when your file is voted on or is it just commonly done that way?

1-4 weeks after your interview, you will hear the outcome, no matter what - acceptance (hopefully), waitlist, or even rejection. The timing is the same for all outcomes.

I'm pretty sure the interviewer has to be present, in order to discuss how the interview went.

I interviewed on 10/17, and at that time we were told that we would hear the next week about our decision (acceptance, waitlist or rejection) unless one of our interviewers couldn't make it or the dean herself was sick or something. I ended up getting a phone call with my acceptance two weeks later (10/31). I think one or two weeks are the norm for decisions.

Aww thanks! Yeah Mayo was amazing it is beautiful and the people are wonderful there....however the class size makes it next to impossible to get in. Good luck to you as well! May all the SDNers get some good news tomorrow!

Obviously you didn't have to deal with a waitlist/rejection, but do you know how they contact you about that? I know you get a phone call when you're accepted, but do you get an email with an alternative decision? Or snail mail? Or what?

took 1 week for me... though I didn't find out until a day or two later since I forgot about it and didn't check my voicemail.

(and I'm pretty confident my class isn't full of 37s... I know I certainly wasn't close to that. plus, the 37s will just end up turning Jeff down for Penn anyway)

Thank you everyone for your responses and I wish all the Jefferson hopefuls good luck today or until you get your decision. :D

for those interested, i got the waitlist decision by snail mail.

i'm going to decline so if any of you end up waitlisted, there will be one less person to compete with!

Good Luck!

I interviewed exactly 2 weeks ago. The Jefferson interview experience was fantastic. Maybe I'll hear today :)

So... completely neurotic question but... what time did the call come?

about ten after three EST.

Well, it is now 3:12. I guess we can all just assume rejection.

I didn't get my call until around 5:30 at night (Eastern time).

Dear Lord,

I know I'm not perfect and that sometimes I graze at the supermarket when I'm shopping but please oh please let me get into Jefferson...I promise I'll be good...

i got my acceptance exactly one week after the interview, by phone in the mid-afternoon. the snail mail confirmation came about a week after that. my stats are 3.7/34. at the interview, they said that if you get a waitlist, you can increase your chances of getting off of it by strongly and repeatedly expressing interest in jefferson, and that staying in contact with them has more of a positive impact than it might at other schools.

I just came home to a thin envelope from Jefferson. Apparently the committee did review my file last week and I've been put on the "High Priority" waitlist. For whatever that's worth.

I'm pretty bummed I didn't get an acceptance outright. But I guess there's still hope . . .

I cannot believe it. I am going to be a doctor. Dreams do come true...Very first acceptance!!!!!!! Good luck everyone.:D

Congratulations everyone who got a call today!
I also got a call at 3:10 this afternoon. Yay for first acceptance!
FYI I interviewed on 10/31 and I have a 3.36/35

I'd like to offer my humble congratulations to all of you who were accepted today . . . very awesome. I've gotta say I'm pretty disappointed with my waitlist (Jefferson is one of my top choices, if not my number one choice), but I'll try not to let my discouragement ruin your celebration. I'm just hoping that I'll be able to join you guys/girls as part of the entering class next year!

Congrats to all of you guys!:hardy:

Jeff rules:D

Silly question, and I guess the people who have been accepted can't help here, but for those who were waitlisted, did you just shoot a quick email back to Dr. Callahan saying "Yes, I would like to remain on the High Priority waitlist" or whatever, or did you go ahead and write an entire letter expressing your interest in the school and use that to retain your spot on the waitlist?

Bump. And yes I realize how neurotic that question is.

based on specific things dean callahan said during her speech at the beginning of interview day and during that "eat cookies and talk to the adcom" time at the end, i would strongly recommend writing the letter. jefferson is definitely not one of those schools that get annoyed with too much contact. dr. callahan actually said there was a girl a few years ago who called and emailed every week for months, and she eventually got in. she told this story in a "let me tell you this wonderful story" way, not in a "here's an example of how to be annoying" way. good luck! :luck:

Thank you for the input. My main concern was that I was thinking of replying with a simple "I would still like to be considered" email, but then also send an update/interest letter shortly after.
