PR or Canadian citizenship is required for admission to Gap Training Programs. There was no information regarding this matter a few months ago but now it appears on ACFD's website.

what happened with the DSCKE and the DSATP ? the websites r still unchanged ? and the ppl who took the exam nov.2009 disappeared ?
does anyone has any new input on this process , the assessment step ?

is it really similiar to EE questions ?

comeon ppl give life back to this important thread for FT specialist in canada :)
 
does any1 know if DSATP program at BC and UOFT universities only has any students in this program ?
I mean did the program start addmission from last DSCKE 2009 ??

our exams were ok. there were five sessions totally. two of which were eligibiliy questions. the biostatistics was tough. but now that we know which way to direct our attention it will beeasier next time. since it was our first time there was no clue what the questions wud be like. the last sessions were patient management questions. they were ok. but the marking was a little unclear, since there were more than one answer to one question.
the results are not out yetand we are stil in the dark as to what next.

Please anyone know any information please share it with others,
as I heared ,the study materials is the same as afk exam,just there is also patient management and research and statistics which should prepare to them also,i heared that the previous students also studied the dental decks.
anyone know about the basic sciences,shoul we studt for it also,
please share....

Hi I am also interested in applying for DSCKE exam. Do you have any idea what happened to the students who appeared in 2010. what is passing score? and if we pass, do we still have to do 2 yrs of university??

I have master in prosthodontics,and plan to take dscke may be this year.
i am also preparing for afk,but confused because i dont know if i can prepare for dscke because there is basic science in a separated module and also patient management and research module.
let me know how you will prepare and what material you have in order to share information
really i dont know what happens to previous students,and i wish to know someone.
i heared that they prepare the same thing as for afk,may be just added the research and pt management.
as i know,they choose very limited no. of students,either to enter few months program or sometimes one year program as i heared.
let us share info to gether

Hi fpd82, i have graduated long back from Bombay,India. I am at present in toronto. AFK is assessment of ffundamental knowledge. I am not really studying at present.

I have MSc in Prosthodontics from IRAQ
AFK=Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge exam regulated by NDEB in order to qualify for licencure in general dentistry in Canada,
I am currently living in Mississauga

i am a prosthodontist from india ,,me too planning for dscke 2011 . i think i will start with basic sciences and clinical sciences then ,,i really dont know any specific book ,,where are u from india? i am from chennai. do reply to ur mails ok.

I am an oral Pathologist.
I got information from UFT that the DSATP IN ORAL PATHOLOGY is 1 year for any body and it costs 55 000 dollars.

There is no pass or fail mark in the exam, u get a score for each of the five parts of the exam.

Keep in touch every body.
Did any one go for the exam before?
We want to help each other to prepare for this exam.
 
and i wanna know where does this exam take place only in canada ?

Unfortunately,I will not be able to take the exam this year,the ACFD required more documents and I think I dont have enough time to prepare my documents,may be next year!!

Hello I am also planning to apply but then I saw the DSCKE post that the exam will be discontinued? and last day of application is Aug. 15,2011! Do you think I should still apply???:confused: advice from anyone??

Chiligirl,if you feel yourself good prepared,then I recommend you to apply,and even you can apply for both DSCKE AND NDEB exams,I think you will have great chance to better prepare for next NDEB if you did DSCKE

The exam is being discontinued but the Evaluation Programs still on!
I emailed NDEB asking but now answer.

Does anyone know if exam questions from previous DSCKE exams are available?
 
Even if on passes the exams and obtains licensure, what is the next step? I imagine there will be visa sponsorship and employment search issues. What's the likelihood of overcoming these problems? Most CA graduates end up in associateships; I imagine the same for immigrants. What's the job opportunity like?

i am new to this forum. I am an oral pathologist. From Acfd website I got to know that DSCKE has been discontinued. Can anybody tell what other program have they started... Or what else I should pursue ....R there any other exams or programs ?????

i couldnt take the dscke exam this year,because the acfd required more papers.may be if i can complete all papers then may can take the test next year.

HI all!
I am interested in taking DSCKE 2012... But I am clueless of the whole procedure.. I am from India and I am clueless of the whole procedure.. what are the paper works required? Please can you enlist them because this is first of the kind examinations I am giving. I am nervous after I have followed this link.
And I read the post in this thread by an oral pathologist stating pass and fail does not make a difference... is that same for every other branch of dentistry? is it same for public health is my concern moreover..
What is required for the preparation of this exam. Since i reside at far end of this country I have not visited the univ of Toronto, I will be grateful if anyone of u can pass on the information for Public Health Dentistry.

HI drmississauga, Thank you for this information. i have gone across this website. But my concerns are about the paper work before exams which a few students had discussed in this forum previously, about the process followed in examination.. what kind of questions appear. How is the assessment. What are the chances of admission?
From the information I have there is only one seat for dental public health in Toronto University. If so I would definitely be concerned about the exam process.
As of now I am still considering this examination but because of not sufficient information may drop the idea of giving the exam.
I also had queries about scope of this branch here in Canada. I do not understand why is it so difficult to make a decision in Canada unlike India. To pick my choice of speciality was very easy and came naturally.
Well which speciality of dentistry have you completed?

Well,you are totally right,its not obviously clear about the exam and there is no one who took the test so we can depend on his information.What I heared which is just few information that the seats are very limited,just one or two for each branch,also about reading materials I heared that the most important source is the dental decks whcih should cover Part 1 and 2(basic and clinical sciences) and you need to study some books and ASDA past papers for the pt management part(the same books and materials for the assessment of clinical judgement exam of the NDEB) while I dont have a clear idea about the other part(scientific research methods) may be you need to read some books about research writing...
If you have any news or ideas pleaae share it and I would be very helpful.My specialty is Prosthodontics.
