Interesting...
<snip>
Current ABPMR policy requires diplomates holding subspecialty certification to maintain primary certification in order to maintain their subspecialty certification. Maintaining primary certification means actively participating in Parts I, II, and IV of the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program along with successfully completing the primary MOC Examination.
As of 2015, the ABPMR will no longer require subspecialty certificate holders to maintain primary certification. Subspecialty certificate holders may choose to continue to maintain all certificates (primary and subspecialty) or may maintain only the subspecialty certification(s). If subspecialty certificate holders choose to maintain only their subspecialty certification(s), they must continue to participate in Parts I, II, and IV of the primary MOC Program along with successfully completing the subspecialty MOC Examination(s).
As the 2015 implementation date approaches, more information will be provided.
If you have any questions, please contact the board office by phone at 507-282-1776 extensions 101 or 120, or email at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Anthony M Tarvestad JD
Executive Director
