Gen Chem Lab and Class at a CC

Hi, I've been reading through the forums and it seems like there are people that are completely for taking a gen chem class at a community college and that there are people that are against it. Does it matter to medical schools (other than Hopkins) about where you take the class because my advisor is telling me to take it over the summer.

I know plenty of people who have taken their Gen Chem series at California community colleges transferred to a UC and have been accepted to various med schools including UCSD, UCLA and Stanford.

I should note that the CA CC system seems to be held in high regard within the state, but I cannot speak to the reputations of other state CC programs.
