Hey guys, just looking to get chanced here. I am an NJ resident, white. I know my MCAT is on the low side which is my biggest worry but I'm trying to remain optimistic haha. I studied on my own during last summer then school started so I couldn't really study and I took the PR "winter hell course" in January and took the exam the end of January. I have 900+ hours of EMT experience under my belt (been one since I was 16), a lot of leadership experience (150+ hours) since I am a counselor for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and being involved with Rotary International through this, started shadowing an Emergency Medicine specialist in March on the weekends only so my hours are still getting up there, I also have an internship which is basically a mixture between Accounting, Finance, and Consulting for Homecare companies and Hospices managing their revenue cycles where I have 550+ hours in since I am working full time in the summer. I am definitely applying DO and know my chances are pretty good there, though I am just worried about MD and hopefully I can get some insight on my chances. Thank you!

MD Schools I applied to:

Drexel- Secondary Not Received
Penn State- Secondary sent
Albany- Secondary sent
Rutgers- New Jersey Medical School- Secondary sent
Rutgers- Robert Wood Johnson Medical School- Secondary Sent
Quinnipiac- Frank H. Netter School of Medicine- Secondary Sent
Jefferson- Secondary Sent
New York Medical College- Secondary Sent

Applicants with your GPA and MCAT have a 2/3 chance of an acceptance to a MD school. In your situation it is probably higher because you applied early and you are sending in your secondaries as soon as possible. Your school list is also very good and you have no reaches. It seems from your list that you want to remain in the Northeast. If so, then you could add Commonwealth Medical College, Temple and George Washington to your list. Also Cooper Rowan would be worth applying to since you are a NJ resident.

Thank you Faha. I was going to apply to Cooper but according to MSAR they don't take AP credits so I'm out of luck since I APed out of Bio, Chem, and Calc I. I will look into your suggestions, I appreciate the advice! I'm glad this is still considered early because I have no sense of a time frame when it comes to these apps. I just received Penn State secondary a couple of hours ago and will have it done by the weekend.

I'd say your chances with those MD schools are OK at best. The discrepancy between your MCAT and the GPAs is disconcerting. You're fine for any DO school.

Hey guys, I am a Biomathematics major at Rutgers New Brunswick (NJ Resident) and wanted to get some advice on my chances. Sorry for double posting but I wanted to revive this instead of starting another thread because I have recently been worrying about whether my list is too small. It may just be me being neurotic (most likely the case). Thought I'd add my DO list as well : NYCOM, PCOM-Philly, Rowan, and Touro-Harlem. Would also like some more insight on my school list and any weaknesses I may have besides my MCAT :/. @gyngyn would you be so kind to provide me with your input as well if you don't mind? Thanks guys.
