Hi Everyone,

I'm going to be a dental school graduate from Ontario, Canada.
Is is possible to apply for 1-year GP residency programs in the US upon attaining my degree i.e. Boston, New York, etc.?
Any knowledge about this is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Yes, of course you are able to apply for GPRs in the USA.
The Canadian dental school degree is recognized in the USA. You will have to take the NBDE part 1 and part 2, however - prior to beginning the residency.

I know of many graduates from Canadian schools doing GPRs in NYC (and I assume other cities as well).

^ Thank you. So you just have to do the NBDE Part 1 & 2. What if you want to practice for a year in Canada before applying for a GPR in the US, since you may for example not have had enough time to write both prior to applying. Would you still be eligible or does it have to be right out of finishing dental school?
