I haven recently been looking into GPR and AEGD programs in the Midwest. I have found a lot of information from SDN on programs on the west coast and east coast, but not much for the in between. Any tips from any current residents or information people have heard through word of mouth? Thanks in advance for your help :)

Get in touch with residents at the programs you are interested in. Now is a good time to do that. Email the program director to see if any residents are willing to answer your questions.

I appreciate your response. I guess what I am struggling with is determining which programs I am even interested in. Other than the websites, I have had trouble finding information and was hoping I could get some direction to help me narrow down which programs I would like to get in contact with.

Check out the WSU- Wichita State AEGD! Come for a visit and meet the residents.
It is south of Kansas City in Wichita KS. It is a stand alone clinic in a safe, friendly suburban location.
google " Wichita State AEGD" It's a $6.7 million facility all new with enthusiastic faculty, many who are local practicioners so you will get real world experience.

Looking forward for visiting you in September 2015 :D Woohoo!

University of Michigan GPR has a lot of implant/pros components if you are interested in that
Lutheran AEGD in Jackson, Michigan has a history of matching pedo residents. But currently no co-residents if that is important to you

this is still great advice. talk to the current residents!
you can ask my residents or me to talk to you at Wichita State AEGD
our program is very similar to a private practice.
we have a lot of specialists to help you. Prosth, Endo, perio oral surg, ortho ,implantology and AEGD/ GPR trained general dentists
we have a fantastic program in its 12 year
We accept applications through PASS- check out our facebook

Dr Dean Elledge DDS MS

Here are the procedures we do:
The faculty will help you do just about whatever they can do. All our faculty are very experienced and also very humble. We are here for you. We have specialists in endo, perio, pros, oral surg, The faculty and specialists work " Shoulder to shoulder" with you. You write the treatment plan, we sign it and then you invite us in...sorta like a second opinion.

There are no other residents to take your patients away.

We have in house Cone beam. We have 6 residents. Our procedures are pretty evenly split in a Pie Chart. Grafting is taught by our periodontist and we teach Global Diagnosis. We practice new procedures in the only dental sim lab in the state of Kansas. You will use a lot of procedure codes, unfamiliar to you. We teach how to do the procedure correctly and perfectly for the patient benefit. We teach you how to be SAFE.
Implant surgeries - 10 or 12- I will assist you- you do all drilling and surgical steps, We also do implant repairs,ex plantation, screw failure, maintenance.
Socket graft and ridge site - 24
Surgical extractions- hundred at least.
Endo- including a retreat, IF you are up for it ...also molar endo
Perio- learn to flap, suture comfortably and enjoy it
Fixed and Removable- I have a lot to teach from my 20+ years of AEGD and as an ADA and AGD speaker- there is so much to tune as you go forward- you have had such limited case selection in your very short career. I am the regional mentor for CR reports, so you will get a first look at many new products.

Practice management- our staff work this daily,as we not a federal clinic,

I will teach you how to remove a tooth, how to repair the hole, how to implant the hole and how to restore it.

Why Do I teach AEGD? I teach for your graduation!..... At graduation we show our " Cases of the Year" . (We have about 80 in attendance..family,friends of the program and alumni and other supporters.

..I teach for : 1 : the thrill of seeing what you have done in the year 2: to talk to your mom,dad or significant other ... and THEY tell me what an impact AEGD had on your life. When 1 and 2 happens..it is like the superbowl for me. It is an electrifying experience for me.

PASS deadline is coming up soon. October 1

PS: Always apply to more than one program and never put all your eggs in one basket.

Patient Care Showcase . I would like to invite you to see what the residents accomplished this year. We have been back in clinic since memorial day. We zoomed and triaged for 8 weeks back in April and May. Zoom is a problem and I am glad its over for today! We added many measures of safety and we are working in the clinic right up to graduation day.

click on link below to virtually attend our graduation and patient care showcase. It will be insight to meet me and my graduating residents and my new residents. ( Residents need to Graduate from an ADA accredited program and pass a US regional board to attend- the State of Kansas has requirements)

We will touch on a lot from Aveoloplasty,Biopsy, Community service,Cone beam, Crowns, Dentures,Endo,Errors,Fixed,Grafts,Implants,KG,Perio, retreat, reconstruction, removable, Sockets,Surgery...etc
