A little about me:

I'm white as snow!
Dropped out of high school and went to a community college for 1.5 years where I finished all my prerequisites. Then I transfered to a 4-year and after another 1.5 years, got my B.S. in chemistry. I'm not sure what my non-science/science gpas are but my course work is mostly in science so it's around 3.65.
NY resident.

Experience:

PACU volunteer - Around 100 hours over a five month period

Clinical Research Intern - 500+ hours over the course of almost a year
Published abstract and submitted paper for review. Bunch of shadowing from here but that's another category. Got an amazing letter of recommendation from one of the best surgeons in the country.

Research Intern - 300+ hours (this is what I'm going to be doing in my year off)
Neuroscience lab; eventually will have a pub or two

Shadowing:

Two Vascular Surgeons: 60+ hours
Endocrinologist: 50+ hours

MCAT:
First try, below 20
Two months later: 27
Third try: 26 (Didn't study but that goes for the first two as well. I know it wasn't smart but I was burnt out from school, trying to finish college in 3 years.)
Fourth: 31 Five months of studying. (10/10/11)

Four MCAT tires may hurt you, but you did finally get over the magicv 30 mark, so you should have some luck some where. Keep in mind that you're fin for any DO program, including mine. NYIT-COM, PCOM, and Touro-NY are all nearby for you.

I agree with Goro, you've got a chance at MD and the schools he suggested are definitely around the range I would be shooting for if I were you.

Good luck and congrats on your 31!

Thank you both! I will start looking into DO schools as soon as I get some secondaries out of the way for MD. Their deadlines are further out anyways. :)

Goro, you cut those schools out mostly because they are reach schools?

Also, I don't have a dean's letter for PCOM, which is a shame.

Yup...I doubt that you'd get anything from NYU. I'd call them "beyond reach" schools.

But I'm doing research at their medical school. :) Won't hurt to try.
Thanks for everything!! I have a lot of work ahead of me.

Oh and maybe we'll get to meet each other this year, although you'll know it's me before I know it's you. :D
