I found this in another thread but wanted to confirm:

Clinical requirements for Heme is 6 mos benign heme, 6 mos malignant heme. Hem/Onc has an extra 6 mos of solid tumor onc and Onc alone is just malignant heme and solid tumor.
AND
Most people are joining groups after finishing fellowship and almost any group would prefer a heme/onc trained doc compared to an onc trained doc.
You would be able to provide less flexibility for the group and be able to provide less services. Your reimbursement and job opportunities would almost certainly be less as an oncologist alone.

So you don't have to do both heme and onc to be a good oncologist but many big groups will want heme/onc training to cover the benign heme?
