Hey guys, I was just wondering how competitive CRTP is and what are some of the factors that they consider in your application. Does anyone have acceptance rate for CRTP program? Also, do they take step 1 score into consideration when they are sorting through applications? Thanks!

I know that some programs are quite competitive, as some (if not most/all) programs require you to have some sort of clinical background. For example see link: http://crtp.mc.duke.edu/modules/crtp_prog/index.php?id=2. At Duke it seems you need to have a clinical degree or have completed at least two years of medical school.

I'm also looking for more information on this program, assuming your talking about the one at the NIH. I read the FAQ on this forum, but it doesn't seem to cover what specific things an applicant can do to become competitive for this program. I would imagine previous research would play a role, as well as a good personal statement and letters. What about grades, step scores, etc?

Check out this pdf:

Looks like the program is getting more competitive lately, so I think its even more important to know how to make yourself stand out.

Looks like they just canceled CRTP for the next year. They are now making a program that is a combination of the Cloister and CRTP called he Medical Research Scholars Program.

They're going to accept at least 40 student for the upcoming year, with up to 70 in the future.

Thank you N1D. This was exactly what I was looking for. Do you think one's step1 score will have some effect on chance of being accepted though? I mean obviously one's CV will have step1 score written at the top, so they are definately gonna differentiate between 200 and 250.. but I am just curious how influential it is. Does anyone who had participated in the program in the past know anything about participants' step1 score?

Thanks for those who reply to this in advance.
