Just out of curiosity...
I'm on track to have one sociology co-author publication, if not two in the near future, about the gender gap in STEM fields. The articles will be published in physics journals, but the research is fundamentally sociology research.
And I'm soon to have co-authorship in a philosophy journal on the topic of philosophy of science.
I'm not planning to stop my pursuit of these publications if the benefit isn't substantial. But I'm just curious...
To what extent does this help an MD/PhD app?
