I know you all have probably been asked tons of questions about Clinical Social Work salaries but I seem to get a variety of inconsistent answers.

Some people say LCSW's make terrible money and other say they make pretty good money.

I've seen posts that say the average LCSW salary is about 60,000 a year. Is that right?

I know it depends on the location and years of experience but could somebody give me the average salary for a place like NY state at the beginner and experienced stages?

Look through these links, some or most of these surveys are broken down by region. No idea about NY specifically. You should be able to find job postings and averages online that are at least in the ball park. Beginners will be much lower than the average because they require supervision and have limited options due to their limited license and need for said supervision/limited experience.

Thank you for the helpful feedback! so it seems from what I'm hearing and seeing that LCSW salaries are pretty much on par with other professionals such as teachers and nurses. Don't get me wrong I believe they are definitely worthy of more but their salaries are not horrible so why is there so much fuss about them having low salaries?

There is a LOT of variability depending on work settings. So, there are people with their full licensure earning around 40,000 or lower, and then some making around 70,000 and up. Just like with anything else, nobody is going to go around posting/talking about how they are content with their (insert anything here). Instead, the ones who are dissatisfied will speak up most, venting about their (insert anything here). That's just my guess though.

I've been looking at a lot of entry level LCSW Kaiser jobs at ~45k; hope that's helpful
