How to find Volunteer opportunties?

I'm your typical under represented student, my family is not wealthy nor middle class and I am hispanic. I am looking for oversea volunteer experiences to places like India, Fiji, or South America, but it seems that you have to have funds in order to make those opportunities happen. Has anyone been able to make these opportunities possible while being low on funds?
