Hello,
I'm a current sophomore at a top 10 school, but I feel like I'm not very well prepared to apply to medical school next year. I would appreciate any advice on areas of my application to work on. I feel like I may need to spend less time on research, and more time on volunteering/shadowing, but I am not really sure and have heard some mixed messages on this. My goal would be to attend a top 10 medical school.
GPA: 3.95 as engineering major.
MCAT: Not taken yet.
Research: 1st author on a paper, 1.5 years research experience (20 hours/week).
Volunteering: about 100 hours total, continuing on a weekly basis.
Shadowing: maybe 40-50 hours total.
Extracurricular: Long distance running where I fundraise for disease research. A few leadership positions on campus.
Also, if I got an MCAT of 35+, what would my chances be of admission to a top 10 medical school.
