Can anyone share how they prepared for OCS (orthopedic certified Specialist)? I am thinking about preparing for me pretty soon. Thanks!

Did you register yet? There are a ton of resources out there and I believe the APTA has some suggestions too. I haven't registered for the OCS just yet as I just sent in my app for the SCS.

The Orthopaedic Section of the APTA recommends the home study course "Current Concepts in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy" for preparation for the OCS exam. I used the first edition which was twelve modules. I beleive the second edition is twelve modules as well but some of hte content has been updated.

I would also recommend the book Orthopedic Physical Therapy Secrets. It can be found on Amazon.

If you know the info from these two references inside and out, you should have no difficulty with the specialist exam.

I'm getting ready to take the OCS and do not think that I am ready, or will be able to get ready by March. I hate to admit, but I have to go back to review origins and insertions of muscles and innervations. I, of course, have a working knowledge of the whereabouts of Os & Is, but not the specific locations that I was made to memorize in PT school. Is this specific information necessary for preparation? Is it possible to take a practice test without taking a course, so that I could get a better idea of where I stand? I'm trying to decide if I should wait until 2017, or if taking a course at this point would be sufficient to assist me in passing. I know this is an old conversation that I'm joining now. I hope you're all still out there.
