Many if not most of the Psy. D. progams such as The Chicago School, Argosy, Alliant, Walden and Capalla are training thousands of LPCs, MFTs, LMHCs and other master level clinicians. These new clinicians are favored by Managed Health Care and will likely receive the bulk of referrals under the Affordable Care Act.
Nurse Practitioners and Psychiatric Physicians are likely to play a major role in prescribing medication.
Since the goal is cost saving, what justification is there for using psychologists for direct treatment?

Agreed.

George- this forum is intended for psychiatry. SDN has other forums for psychology, MFT, social work, etc. This post might be better served there...
