I have a question and the answer seems pretty obvious but I figured I'd ask anyway, just in case. I'm interested in HPSP but I have GERD which beyond causing heartburn also sometimes causes my voice to become hoarse, especially after eating spicy foods, but is well-controlled with an H2-blocker. Any chance for a waiver?

You can absolutely get a waiver. I did, although I had to get an upper endoscopy first.
