Insight from anyone who served HPSP after graduation

I've recently been thinking about joining to serve after I graduate from dental school. I am pursuing more information from recruiters but I was hoping to get some personal experiences and info through the ever so helpful SDN community!

Is everything a recruiter will tell me the facts, or are there specifics they may leave out? How competitive is the application process? Does anyone wish they had or hadn't joined?
