Hello guys!

I have a Canadian friend who just got his US citzenship, and is thinking to apply Cali. med schools in couple years after he finished his undergrad in Canada. Will he be disadvantaged when he applys for instate med schools since he has never lives in US before? He got US citzenship b/c the company that his dad works for sponser him. Thanks!

Since he is a US citizen, he'll be treated like a regular applicant. The only bad thing that he will have to deal with is the fact that unless his parents live in a specific state, he won't have in-state status anywhere and will be applying as an out-of-state resident. That won't be a problem though, as most of us down here apply to more out-of-state schools that in-state schools anyway.

Probably not worth applying to Cal. state schools unless a resident there. You didnt state wherer you would be or not.
