Rumors abound. Is anyone getting interview offers yet? Has anyone had interviews (say as part of their away rotation)? How many of you have heard that some programs don't even conduct interviews because they simply choose from their rotator pool?

A bunch of places interview rotators during their aways. WashU and Iowa, come to mind. There are others that I don't know off the top of my head.

Otherwise, how would you possibly get "offers" yet when ERAS isn't submitted until the 15th?

BTW, why does orthogate suck massive balls these days? That site seemed like such a great resource until ~2010. Now its good for interviews but thats about it. Program reviews are almost completely unreliable based on what I've seen on aways. Any mention of volume and operative experience is mostly unreliable-- the reviews are fraught with exaggeration, undue criticism, and current residents posting as if their programs have no flaws. What a shame..

These days, I think the only honest assessment of a given program will come from people who rotated this year or last.

Agree on the reviews available. It's hard to get solid information on programs. I know the reviews are "one person's opinion" but it would be nice to see them. And it would help to have some info that's more recent than ten years old! It's stupid, you search for guidance and where is it?

I had an interview on one of my rotations.

Any chance we could get you guys who rotated this year to do some reviews here?

This would be for D.O. Programs

anybody want to step up and start listing programs you've heard from and/or interviewed with?

There is a similiar list ortho hopefuls in ACGME programs are circulating on another board -- let's get one started here --

List your interview invite date beside the program or just the date you interviewed -- or will interview. Helps us to know if programs are done offering interviews or if things are still shaking out, etc.

I have been wondering the same thing. When my husband was doing his residency in the early/mid 2000s, we used to read Orthogate regularly (though not post). It was a very robust and informative site and very collegial. I am not sure what happened, but it seems a shame.

Fortunately, we still have the old content to browse through which is still somewhat helpful I think.

IMO, the problem started when orthogate became more popular. Soon enough, program directors and other "insiders" started posting and this led to extreme tightening of everyone's sphincters. Nowadays, all the nice and helpful people are less likely to go out on a limb and post an opinion for fear of a program director figuring out their identity. Oh well, the same thing has happened to other surgical sub-specialty forums, like urologymatch and otomatch. So at least we're not alone in missing the good ol days...
