So when you guys are speaking of a charged felony... As I understand it there is a good 80%-90% you won't be able to get into pharmacy school? Even if it is just charged, but not convicted?

Here's my situtation, both my exbf and I both want to go to pharmacy school...However, over the course of our relationship he has become more violent... Recently (last week), he decided to punch me in the face. I called the police to report him because I'm extremely tired of this treatment which has been over 8 months. I'm hesitating on whether to go through with the case... he'll be charged for domestic battery... Furthermore, we work together in the pharmacy, so the company has to take action now... He may be charge with employee assult on another employee... since it happened outside of work...

Work decided so far that since it was off the clock they wont terminate him, but one of us will have to transfer...

As for the police case on him for domestic battery, I dont know if I should go through with it... I dont know how much will his chance of getting in with be afterward... I do want to go through with the charges just so the next girl he hits will be a felony... but will the charges affect his chance?

It should affect his chances. I'd hate to think that some worthy candidate can't go to pharmacy school because there isn't a spot left because it went to some guy who goes around punching girls in the face. Do you really think that this guy has the character to be a pharmacist? I know I don't want to work with a guy like that and not many patients want their pharmacist to be someone who is violent towards women.

Don't worry about him. Protect yourself. Charge him.

Don't take this the wrong way dude, but in brutal honesty you couldn't be more screwed if you had a first degree manslaughter conviction. In most states a convicted felon would have trouble getting ANY job (dishwasher, floor sweeper), but as a convicted sex offender ???

Your options are: 1. Alaskan kingcrab boat :smuggrin::smuggrin::smuggrin::smuggrin:2. Leave the country.

I'd take door number two, but you might have trouble qualifying for a passport.

I have been convicted of felony when I was 18 yrs old in 1998's and 1999's for indecent exposer and lewd conduct on public. This was back in freshman year when I was still bumb enough to perform such as ewd act with my college dormmate asan act of prank. Basically, my dormmate and I were recording ourselves performing various prank such as masturbating on public on the video tape to make stupid MTV show like Jackass. First time we got caught it was misdemeanor but second time we got caught we all got felnoy charge for it. Currently, I am working wiht my lawyer to reduce it down to misdemenor and we will eventuall expunge the all the criminal records. But becaue this was considered as sexual crime, I have to register as sex offender with CA state. Can any body tell me if this is going to be end of my dream to be a pharmacist?

i keep thinking this is a troll post because, i mean, they got caught doing it once...and then did it again? filming it for a "show"? what was the thought process behind that? "Oh yeah damn, the first take didn't have very good lighting and the boom mic was in the shot, plus Bill was totally messing up his lines. Should we do it again? Ok yeah, lets do it again" ........:/

I have felony charge for something stupid. However, is felony charge impact on your admission to pharmacy school? Is it also affect when you get a State license?

I know there is a job, that will pay you twice as much as pharmacist and is extremely pleasant:

Think about yourself and protect yourself. Don't let some guy get in the way of your dream and you shouldn't care for someone who hits women like that anyways, I say charge him.

If he's going to punch his girlfriends, you need to stop him, and if it hurts his chances in pharmacy school, tough. You shouldn't worry about protecting him. Someone with that kind of violence in them shouldn't be in a position of trust and authority, and you certainly shouldn't be worried about the unintended consequences of your reporting his actions. He needs to be held accountable for what he did, period.

Let's be realistic, your dream as a pharmacist is dead!. You got lucky the first time but you didn't heed the warning. No body will want to know that you were young and dumb, they see a sex offender infron of them and the are scared.

Can you find something else to do with your time?

I realize this post is from 2006, but you're not going to get into pharmacy school, felony conviction or not, because you're stupid.

We once had a tech who was initially charged with a felony (he was at a college festival, had been drinking heavily, and threw beer on a cop). He was looking into pharmacy school and knew he couldn't get in with a felony conviction, which assaulting a police officer is, but his attorney got the charges reduced to public intoxication and disorderly conduct. His sentence was a fine and community service, and when the judge found out he worked in a hospital, said he could do his CS hours concurrently with work. In addition, the conviction would be expunged from his record if he didn't get in trouble for IIRC 3 years. The officer was at his sentencing, and gave a statement saying that he felt this was a fair and appropriate punishment, and shook his hand on the way out and told him that he seemed like a fine young man who did something stupid.

This man chose cytotechnology because it was a 1-year program; he didn't want to be in school for 4 additional years.

Who gives a crap about him? Charge him, let them throw the book at him, and go on with your life.

I'm currently in the process of getting my PTCB certification and I noticed that they don't award it to people with a felony on their record....so I couldn't imagine that pharmacist would be hold to a lower standard.

Exactly. This thread got bumped for advice on this subject, not so we could laugh at how dumb some Johnny Knoxville wannabe was in 2006. I hope the OP listens to us.

I’m not sure if that applies to all of the states because I have a felony conviction for carrying a concealed firearm without a permit this happened in 2006 so about 10 years ago I purchased a gun legally at a gun store in Florid the mistake I made was not paying for the concealed carrying permit so when I was caught I was then charged and convicted for carrying a concealed firearm without a permit. I just got into Pharmacy school in Georgia and I was honest to them during the admissions process and I go accepted the only condition was I had to be awarded my Pharmacists intern license, in the license application they ask questions about criminal records and they seemed more concerned about people that comet Drug related offences, once again I was completely honest and last week I was awarded my Pharmacist intern license and now I’m studying for my first exam. But I am worried about the rules of me practicing in my clinical section because I know that each facility does a background check and If I am not allowed to enter the pharmacy then I am screwed. I am in the process of getting a pardon but that process may take years to complete through Florida’s Republican system of no forgiveness. Honestly I’m just scared that I will be blocked for the rest of my life because of a mistake that I made many years ago.
