Hello,
I'm from Germany (so sorry for possible solecisms) and a real hypochondriac. Since the US is leading in research/ studies and the thing I want to talk about US-scientists have found out, I have decided to write this on this platform.
US-scientists have found out that this ATCV-1-Virus have infested humans and this virus can impair cognitive/ memory-function. Is this really as bad as I can read it in this articles (nearly about one in too is affected)? Do you think that even in Germany the infection rate is so high? (I'm well aware that your answers are in a large part subject of speculation but maybe in Germany are other climatic conditions or the like)
Here are some articles about that: http://www.nih.gov/researchmatters/november2014/11102014virus.htm

And the original research paper: http://www.pnas.org/content/111/45/16106.abstract

In the meantime the research was refuted: http://geogenetics.ku.dk/latest-news/stupidity-virus/

But a month later there was a reply on this refutation: http://www.pnas.org/content/112/9/E927.extract
Sadly the print media didn't deal this with this reply. Does somebody now something what this reply implies?
Im not a medicine student so can somebody of you look, if there are new insights? It would be also interesting if there is a try to heal this participants of the study.
I'm also a student (but not medicine) and brain function is for me one of the importast things.
Thank you beforehand, I hope, you can calm me
Best regards
