Who knows, but a news organization should interview an anesthesiologist for input on anesthesia complications. I actually don't know anything about hair transplants (... and being addicted to it? Weird.), but I'd be shocked if he had to have it under GA.

Interestingly, the expert "surgeon" they interviewed is an emergency medicine physician who did a hair transplant fellowship. And practicing in Manhattan no less.

Hair transplant is usually done under local with the patient fully awake. Why was an anesthesia provider even involved?

Cosmetic surgery patients are disproportionately difficult, demanding, and intolerant of any discomfort-physical or emotional.
