Hi everyone,

I need help ranking these two programs. Can anyone with insider's knowledge please comment on the teaching, support from faculty/residents, workload, quality of life? I am looking for a program that's not too hard (so I have some energy left for my advanced program) but still offers some solid basic training in medicine.

I have been warned against programs in big cities that screw you over because it's a one year program. Hopefully none of these programs are like that! If they are, pray tell!

Hi,

I'm a psych resident who did my internal medicine months at metrowest medical center and worked with several transitional years. I thought MWMC was a great place to work. The chief resident is caring and really listens to residents' concerns. The categorical IM residents are all very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. During certain rotations, the workload can be worse (ie CCU, ICU) but the hospitalists and specialists are for the most part enjoyable to work with. They have great nursing and staff to help you out. PM me if you have further questions about MWMC.

When I was on the floors, my cap was 10 patients, and I think that was the same for the TYs. There aren't too many "zebra" diagnoses here, but there are a lot of "bread and butter" cases like CHF, pneumonia, etc that may be more relevant to your career.
