I understand that this has been posted about, but just want to make sure I'm interpreting the wording correctly: for ERAS, we need at least 3 LOR's: one should be the CHAIRMAN + 2 from faculty. The DEAN's letter is a whole separate entity which does not count toward your three. Is that a correct statement? Is it bad to have only 3?

Dean's letter is separate from the 3. 3 is standard. It's practically a miracle actually, considering how hard it is to get letter writers to submit it

Haha! Actually I've been lucky so far. I have 3, and had counted on getting one from my current away rotation, but I don't really like it and have had little face time with any attendings. It's extremely chaotic, so I rarely even get to present on rounds. I think it would be pretty tough to get a good letter in this environment.
